3. Can I use my old transducer with any of the new Raytheon or Apelco fishfinders?
4. Where do I mount my transom mount transducer?
5. What is the white line function?

1. Can I cut my transducer cable?

No, the impedance of the unit is set for the length of cable.

2. What does the number at the bottom of the A-Scope display represent?

This number is an indicator of the coverage area of the transducer beam. The sonar beam extends down from the transducer in a cone shape, projecting a circle on the bottom. The number indicates the diameter of the circle.

3. Can I use my old transducer with any of the new Raytheon or Apelco fishfinders?

In some cases you will be able to use your old transducer. The frequency (in Kilohertz) and the output power (in Watts) must match. It may be necessary to obtain an adapter cable to complete the installation.

4. Where do I mount my transom mount transducer?

The transducer should be mounted on the down-stroke of the propeller. Most propellers rotate in a clockwise direction when viewed from behind, so the transducer would be mounted on the starboard side at least 18" away from the propeller.

5. What is the white line function?

This allows you to distinguish between fish on or near the bottom, and the bottom itself.
